When you explain to a friend that you are tired and struggling
Sometimes they say they feel the same
But they don’t realise you are more than tired
Chronic fatigue is so much worse thathan tiredness
…
No amount of sleep can cure this kind of fatigue
It sucks your energy until you have nothing left
It can make you sick to the stomach
Unable to focus on anything
…
The brain fog sets in and the world blurs
People talk to you but you can’t hear
Or think of the right words to say no matter how easy
Even forgetting what you were talking about
…
All you can do when it’s that bad is rest
Try to nap or sleep or rest your eyes until you feel better
Never knowing how long it will take
Or when it will hit again
…
It leaves you unable to make plans
Try to pace to conserve your energy
Unable to push through
Or achieve what you used to be able to
…
Rest days between busy days can help you recover
So that you can do it all over again
Sometimes it’s the only thing that gets you through
But it’s a skill I’m yet to accomplish
Thank you for putting into words something that can’t always be said. I need to remind myself when I’m feeling guilty about resting, that the fog is real, and can sometimes be more debilitating then the pain.

I’m still struggling with the same thing. Honestly it’s the most frustrating part of being ill; having your mind always worrying and over thinking, making you feel guilty about doing what’s best for you. I wish it were easier but slowly it is getting easier.
