With fibromyalgia clumsiness is a part of life
Not just due to brain fog but also from balance issues
It makes you seem awkward to others
And they often don’t realise you weren’t always like that
…
The balance issues mean you walk into things easily
Tables, walls, doors, chairs and more
Even getting dressed you end up falling all over the place
And the shower is a danger due to the slippery floor
…
It can make you even more self conscious
Thinking others must notice this clumsiness
Not understanding that it’s a part of your illness
That there is not a lot you can do to avoid being clumsy
…
There is little research into this side of fibromyalgia
But it is connected to other symptoms
Including muscle weakness, balance issues and brain fog
We must do our best to be in safe surroundings when clumsiness is at its worst

Thank you so much for your blog (which I found through Pinterest). I’ve also been struggling with more and more inexplicable symptoms. With the help of your blog, I’m better able to understand that this total encompassing condition type illness is very real & very perplexing, and not to be taken lightly. Felt very alone after being diagnosed…… but with your blog I feel a kinship only fibromyalgia sufferers can share and understand, whereas others cannot.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I started the blog to feel less alone and to know that we all share similar experiences. It feels so much better to open up with a community who actually understands how it feels.

Thank you! I have always been the brunt of jokes with my family, even my super athletic spouse, due to my clumsiness. I always shrugged it off and would depend on my brain to be my winning place. Now, after years with MS, I feel like a looser all the way around.
