Fibromyalgia and Delayed Physical Reaction

One of the most unpredictable problems with fibromyalgia

Is that your body deliberately delays reactions to stressful events

This means that you do not immediately hurt yourself

But you might feel the effects of something days later

This symptom can make it hard to know when to stop

Often your body doesn’t tell you it’s hurting until it’s too late

And by then the damage is done

And there’s not a lot you can do but let it heal

For me the most common delayed injury is pulled muscles

Especially in my thighs when I’ve been standing or bending down

At the time I don’t feel much pain

But the next day I can barely get put of bed

It was so bad recently I pulled muscles in both legs

I couldn’t walk very far at all

Every step caused the muscles to throb in agony

And the usual remedies barely touched the pain

It’s so hard to comprehend when your body has had enough

I’m still trying to master this and learn the warning signs

I need to learn to take it easier when I’m trying to help

Its better to be careful even when I think I’ll be fine
