It is often said that fibromyalgia is not progressive
But in the year since I have been diagnosed it has gotten much worse
I have tried to stay active despite the pain and fatigue
But despite all this my health just keeps deteriorating
…
I used to be able to do up to 20,000 steps a day at work
Now I’m struggling If I manage 5,000
I used to have the energy to work and have a social life too
But now I can barely get out of bed in the first place
…
A recent study found that there are 4 different classes of fibromyalgia
Class 1 is the least pain and fatigue
Class 4 is the most symptoms plus an array of other associated conditions
In most cases it progressed into a higher class than where it started at
…
This to me proves that fibromyalgia is progressive
But the problem is no 2 people are the same
The fact that as we grow older our bodies worsen naturally
Only further demonstrates that with fibromyalgia it can only get worse with age
…
There is no miracle cure instead it’s trial and error
Nothing will rid the pain and fatigue and all the other symptoms
We can only do things to ease it slightly and make it survivable
And hope and pray one day we can break the endless cycle
I actually feel as though my symptoms are better than 9 years ago. However, I believe this is more so due to the fact that I have learned to manage them better, my acceptance and attitude is more positive, and there are some things I’ve been able to greatly improve upon by mentally retraining my body responses. I have questioned whether some things have gotten worse, but as a whole, I can’t say that for myself. Like you said, there are so many variances between us all. Thanks for sharing this.

I’m glad to hear you are feeling better than you have been before! Hopefully I’ll feel the same way in a few years x
