Seasonal Affective Disorder: Why You Feel Worse in the Winter

SAD is short for Seasonal Affective Disorder

It is where your body and mind experience symptoms

At certain times of the year, mainly winter

With chronic illness, it can worsen your symptoms dramatically

In the winter my muscles and joints seize up more

The fatigue increases far beyond my normal

Every symptom is intensified

And my mood decreases significantly

Research shows that SAD is mainly caused by less daylight

Some people therefore experience symptoms beyond their normal

It can affect anyone healthy or not

But it is far worse to those who already live with a chronic illness

The good thing about SAD is that it eases with the seasons

It can be brought on by any specific season

You can predict when you will feel worse

And plan ahead to help yourself in that season as much as possible
