Fibromyalgia Poems

The Reality of Chronic Illness

Sometimes your body just shuts down

You can’t be your ‘normal’ self

You just can’t get out of bed

Even sunlight hurts your eyes

Every movement causes pain

Your stomach bloats and gurgles

Not sure if eating will help or worsen

All the already unbearable symptoms

The slightest sound hurts your ears

You want to hide away from the world

Isolate yourself from everything

And wish you could feel human again

You didn’t think you could suffer so much

Didn’t think it would affect you so much

But it keeps knocking you down

And doesn’t let you get up

  1. That was my day today 😞 It’s so tough especially when it puts me into depression. But I endure it knowing that these days help give me perspective and usually lead to better days ahead. It’s what we have to do to survive, right? Hoping you find some “good” days too 😊 Thanks for sharing your pain.

    1. I completely understand, I feel exactly the same. You have to endure the worst days to get to the better days. It’s good to know we are not alone in our battles! 💜
