Rest Days

Sometimes you just need a rest day

To let your body and mind heal

From all the stress you’ve put on it

From overdoing it and making it worse

Those who don’t suffer don’t understand

That when I say I did nothing

I mean I was resting

I was trying to feel better

They think I was just relaxing

Drinking and watching TV

‘Sounds like you had a great time

Is what they reply

But in reality if I don’t rest

The pain spirals out of control

If I carry on I won’t be able to do anything at all

I am forced to rest so I can live tomorrow

When they see me out and about

In only there because I paced myself

I rested when my body told me to

So that I could survive another day

    1. Couldn’t agree more. Doing this blog is helping me come to terms with these kinds of things and hearing it from someone else is reassuring. Really appreciate it!
